NPTC Safety Article- December 2025 -Training Provider Registry

The U.S. Department of Transportation earlier this month announced the removal of nearly 3,000 commercial driver’s license (CDL) training providers from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Training Provider Registry (TPR) for failing to equip trainees with the Trump Administration’s standards of readiness. Another 4,500 training providers were placed on notice due to potential noncompliance.

The FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry enhances highway safety by ensuring that entry-level drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) complete the required training under the new Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations before taking the test for certain commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) and CDL endorsements.

FMCSA is sending notices to training providers with one or more training locations that have submitted no certifications of driver training completion within the past 12 months. If you received this notice, follow the instructions and respond directly to the notice from FMCSA.
