NPTC Safety Article-September 2023-International Roadcheck Inspections

September 18, 2023 Casey Nighbor

Nearly one out of five commercial motor vehicles were placed out of service during the International Roadcheck commercial motor vehicle inspection and enforcement initiative conducted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance last May.

During the three-day initiative, 59,429 commercial motor vehicles were inspected in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 72-hour International Roadcheck inspection and enforcement initiative.

A total of 116,669 violations were identified throughout the effort, which included all driver and vehicle out-of-service violations and violations that were not out of service, combined.

By analyzing the results, we can underscore the importance of conducting a proper pre-trip inspection, to ensure both you and your equipment are road-ready.
